Also, accountant, got delegated sending the following form letter to all of us (I'm pretty sure Boss didn't intend for it having to go to FT staff, but still).

Dear X,

I am deeply embarrassed that your cheque did not go through – we are in the middle of changing financial institutions, waiting on one last letter from government to enable us to make that transition, and your payment got stuck in the middle. We are reissuing it as soon as we get the confirmation that in fact the change was made and if you let Elisha know that the penalty was from your financial institution, we will of course add that to the cheque. We were supposed to have received this weeks ago, and arranged your payment with the expectation that this would have been settled long ago. I am so grateful for your patience and your support and ask that you can accept my apology.

This is a very positive move for the organisation, which means that will not have cash flow issues as sometimes happen at the end of the summer or in dead of winter, but it is a long and tedious process to go through, and we are at the mercy of those who are providing us with the services, rather than being able to move forward at the pace I would have liked. Once again, this is a completely short term issue which will lead to much more financial stability and steadiness throughout the year, but I apologise for you being caught in the middle of it. We should have it sorted very quickly and Elisha will follow up and make sure that you know when your payment is being reissued. I am away until Monday September 13, but will check in as soon as I return.

Thank you,

Executive Director
