Dear World,

We are closed for business today, we ain't no fools. Look at that white stuff outside! More of it is coming! We can feel it in our bones. Not a single road-side accident has happened on our watch this time - and if you know our roads, that's even more impressive than it sounds. Someday soon, maybe tomorrow, the plows will come out to play. Until then, if you needed something important, now you don't. Go build a snowman, or make hot chocolate.

Yaaay. He's a good one! My favourite on the Canadian team likely won't see any play time - Marc-Andre Fleury is our back-up back-up goalie :)

I'm totally pulling for Canada in, like, every sport.

I think it's a bad reaction to the way NBC focuses on American athletes to near exclusivity. It is boring!

Aw. Canadian athletes don't get enough love. Unless they're hockey players, it's true. But some of the American athletes are pretty kickass!

It just amuses me that in a country FULL OF WINTER, Vancouver is hosting the Olympics. Where is the snow??? Snow on mountains doesn't count.

Well, I do want Shani Davis to win the gold, but I don't have much patriotic sentiment and the crowd gets soooo happy when Canadians do well. But I miss Jeffrey Buttle.

Ahaha, yes! The coverage is all, "look at the cherry blossoms!" and meanwhile I look out my window in Baltimore and there is still 18 inches or something on the ground. Oh, West Coast. You and your fast cherry blossoms. No respectable cherry tree flowers before March.

Is it wrong that all I can think when I watch speed skating is "I WANT THEIR THIGHS" ???

Jeff Buttle!! Skating chemical engineers don't get any cuter - he was doing an interview this morning, offering very good-natured snark about Plushenko. (Did you see the video snippet of Plushenko where he says something like "Without the Quad, eet eez not a sport for men!!")

Imagine all that all-year outdoor, on-the-water training for rowing. Siiiigh.

Um, no, I definitely spend most of the pre-race part ogling the skaters and their muscles. Those uniforms invite it though! It's like swimming.

Awww, I would love for him to eventually take a commenting gig or something - I would definitely troll YouTube for that. (I mean, in a couple years. Obviously I want him to be happy doing chemical science and being adoooorable.) And I didn't see the video, but I HEARD about it, and Plushenko needs to STFU, especially given the number of rhinestones on his costume. Jesus. I really hope Takahashi beats him. (And that Stephane comes back. Come on, bb, you're only 6 points behind!)
