Soooo I've resprained the formerly broken ankle. I hate, hate, hate how stupid I can be. It's not bad, not compared to the horror that was last year, but I've never been a good judge of pain (remember that time I walked home ten blocks on a broken ankle, woke up the next morning it was swollen like you would not believe, black and I played a harp gig???). Today's been miserable in general, so go figure. I'm just having one of those days where I'm like "Everything is all wrong!" and want to sit curled up with a blanket and feel sorry for myself. Which is stupid, right.

I've got so many things to be thankful about- and I know I tend to be hard on myself- but bah. Sometimes I get tired of trying to take care of myself.

I want to break up with me.

That sounds most unpleasant. *hugs*

Unrelatedly, you play harp?

Thanks, dude. Yep, I do - I went to university to study it (the early days of my LJ are full of that).

That is awesome! The harp, not the ankle. :-P

I can't help but admire this a little.

But, yeah, I know this feeling: Sometimes I get tired of trying to take care of myself.

Thanks! I'm considerably less emo this morning, though walking hurts x a lot.

Oh no. :( I hope your ankle heals quickly and you feel better soon! *hugs* Maybe taking some time to rest and sit curled up with a blanket and a good book would be a good idea. It usually helps.

Meeee too. It was really just a matter of when and where I was going to mess it up again. Sigh. I see lots of blanket sitting in my future this week.

Well, again I stand amazed that someone as clumsy as you could have been promoted all the way to Sergeant. I am even more amazed that you could have been promoted to Sergeant and lived long enough to sew the extra tabs on your uniform. Without bleeding on it even a little bit."

"Does that count as 'get well soon,' in the areas of Fief Eldorne, Lerant?" Dom asked from his hospital cot.

The standard bearer flopped down onto the small stool and shook his blond forelock out of his eyes. "What, you want sympathy when you managed to stand right in front of that arrow? A soldier is meant to have positional and situational awareness."

"I was in front of you, ungrateful wretch," Dom commented mildly.

"I know." Lerant avoided eye contact with Dom, and threw a paper wrapped package of sweets on top of the blanket.

"You're welcome," Dom smiled, despite the pain in his shoulder.

OH FENELLA, NO. :( :( :(

That sucks so much. Please go and see a doctor. And take good care of yourself since I'm not there to cart you around your day in a wheelbarrow.

Love and Hugs and Puppies,

IMOGEN. I want to give you a hug sooo much this week :( The pooch and percy icon does help, a little.

I was out running last evening, and in Ctown there is no where to run except the country roads, RIGHT? Anyways, it was dusk, and raining, and the car coming towards me was not staying in their lane, so I went to move over. Except over=three foot deep ditch. I went over on the bad ankle and my other knee is full of gravel. I hate life.

Oh crap. And then you limped the whole way home, didn't you.

Please tell me that you're not hobbling all around the centre by yourself looking after the artists-- that you have a bandage and crutches, and a doctor's appointment, and whichever of your co-workers happen to be around know and are trying to help you out and carry things for you and drive you places. Painkillers. Those are good too.

There should be a limit on how stoic a person can be in any given year, even you.

Oh. So. This just in. Apparently my paycheque bounced (along with 28 other people's cheques). Which means that my account is going to be overdrawn (I hope to god my rent cheque clears). I don't even. Like, how can I even justify staying here now?

There are not enough emoticons.

Why are you even at work today?? Just tell them you're in pain and go home.

The bosses are camping, in Keji, and are unreachable. And there are dancers here. So the rest of us are all here and miserable and aaaaaah. I nearly started crying when Accountant, who is now PT, walked in. After Property Manager had a long conversation at Chef, standing at the bottom of the stairs where they know I can hear which wasn't directing blame at me, but was totally about how I had started spackling and painting the community gallery, but not finished it.

Also, accountant, got delegated sending the following form letter to all of us (I'm pretty sure Boss didn't intend for it having to go to FT staff, but still).

Dear X,

I am deeply embarrassed that your cheque did not go through – we are in the middle of changing financial institutions, waiting on one last letter from government to enable us to make that transition, and your payment got stuck in the middle. We are reissuing it as soon as we get the confirmation that in fact the change was made and if you let Elisha know that the penalty was from your financial institution, we will of course add that to the cheque. We were supposed to have received this weeks ago, and arranged your payment with the expectation that this would have been settled long ago. I am so grateful for your patience and your support and ask that you can accept my apology.

This is a very positive move for the organisation, which means that will not have cash flow issues as sometimes happen at the end of the summer or in dead of winter, but it is a long and tedious process to go through, and we are at the mercy of those who are providing us with the services, rather than being able to move forward at the pace I would have liked. Once again, this is a completely short term issue which will lead to much more financial stability and steadiness throughout the year, but I apologise for you being caught in the middle of it. We should have it sorted very quickly and Elisha will follow up and make sure that you know when your payment is being reissued. I am away until Monday September 13, but will check in as soon as I return.

Thank you,

Executive Director

Forget the bosses. Just tell the accountant and property guy what's up and go home. Or preferably to a doctor's office. (How do you know it's only sprained?) They'll understand.

Sprain is ouch, not the OUCH. I have learned the distinction the hard way.

I think this is actually giving me the motivation to jump ship. So I'm trying to do EVERYTHING this week.

I support this motivation, though not your unwillingness to look after yourself.

I'm sorry you're having such a crap week. Call and talk tonight? I think I'll be at Sally's.
